In recent times many people are visiting and consulting with certain so called “Psychic Healers, Crossing over practitioners” to find closure when someone has died or to simply have the desire to connect with the departed. After all they have moved on to their next life. Many of these practitioners simply play on the mind and conscience of the individual who consults with them only to be misled and cheated by them with their flowery words. Exorbitant amounts are paid as they get hooked on to such false beliefs and practises and are made to believe that the soul is trapped and wants them to perform rites and rituals in their homes.
And obviously, there is really no way to know who a person is reborn as and thus no “contact” is possible according to the sacred and ancient texts of the holy authentic Hindu scriptures that have been proven and tested for millions of years.
Contacting the dead comes under the influence and powers of DARK TANTRAS or in English – black magic.
And as such is discouraged in Hinduism. Do not do this as this interferes with the journey of the soul which can have major negative consequences in the lives of the family.
CHRISTIANITY
It is a Christian practise to bury the dead. According to Christian belief, when someone dies, their soul immediately returns to God if he has accepted Jesus as his savour and awaits the resurrection of their body:
Soul and spirit separate.
The spirit, or essence of who a person is, leaves the body and goes to heaven.
Awaiting resurrection
The soul and spirit wait for the resurrection of Jesus, when they will be reunited with the resurrected body (which was buried)
Eternal bliss
The resurrected body will be perfect, not in a state of decay and free from pain, sickness, and imperfections. The soul and spirit will then be with the Lord forever in eternal bliss in heaven.
The Bible uses the metaphor of sleep to describe the inanimate state of the body after death, but not the soul. For example, Jesus said “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep” when Lazarus died. However, the Bible also contains other events that indicate that believers are immediately present with God after death.
HINDUISM
In Hinduism, the soul, or atman, is reborn into a new body after death in a cycle known as samsara. The soul continues to be reborn until it reaches its true nature, which can take many lifetimes.
Here are some other beliefs about the soul after death in Hinduism:
Karma
The soul’s next incarnation is determined by its actions in the previous life, a concept known as karma. Good actions uplift the soul, while bad actions degrade it.
Moksha
The soul’s goal is to attain moksha, or liberation from samsara, and achieve complete spiritual existence.
Attachment to the body
The soul is believed to remain attached to the body after death, so the body is cremated to set it free.
Dispersing the ashes
The ashes and remaining bone fragments are scattered in a river or ocean, usually at a holy place.
Pind Sammelan
A ritual performed on the 13th day of death to place the soul with ancestors and deities.
