On the internet you will find that most astrological websites in India will provide you with a list of astrologers in India that can be consulted via their institution. For example Future Point Astrological Solutions. This in itself proves that they are registered with the institution and have the necessary qualifications to practise as astrologers. At one of the astrological conventions that I attended and presented a paper on “Planning the birth of a child astrologically” more than 1000 astrologers were in attendance.

It is most unfortunate that in South Africa this is not the case. Many persons who have not studied at any instituation nor do they have any qualifications in this most complex subject matter are practising to “open the book” which is a common term used by most Hindu’s in this country who do not know the difference between having a proper astrological reading and “opening the book”. This is leading to the degradation of this science and innocent people who have no knowledge of the complexities of this subject are being misled causing them to lose faith in this subject matter.

On the other hand be very wary of the “astrologers” that come from India and practise at the trade fares that are hosted in this country. They are here to “sell” their wares more than render service to people who consult with them. No fast, prayer or proper guided remedial measures are offered and obviously there is no follow up thereafter.

Astrology is a belief system that suggests a connection between the positions and movements of celestial bodies and events on Earth, including human life and personality. If you’re considering qualities that make a good astrologer from a perspective of someone seeking astrological guidance, here are some characteristics to look for:

Knowledge and Expertise:

Astrological Training: A good astrologer should have a solid understanding of astrological principles, including the positions of planets, houses, signs, and aspects.

Continuous Learning: Astrology is a vast field that requires continuous learning. A good astrologer stays updated with new techniques and developments in the field.

Intuitive Abilities: Beyond the technical aspects, a good astrologer should have intuitive abilities to interpret charts and connect with the client on a deeper level.

Empathy: Understanding and empathizing with the client’s concerns are essential for providing meaningful insights and advice.

Communication Skills:

Clear Communication: Astrologers need to convey complex astrological concepts in a clear and understandable manner to their clients.
Active Listening: Being able to listen actively to clients’ concerns and questions is crucial for providing personalized guidance.

Ethical Practices:

Integrity: A good astrologer adheres to ethical standards and is honest about the limitations of astrology. They don’t make false promises or predictions that could lead to harm.

Respecting Privacy: Respecting clients’ privacy and confidentiality is paramount.

Counseling Skills:

Empathetic Counseling: Astrology often involves providing guidance on personal matters. An astrologer should possess counseling skills to help clients navigate challenges.

Objective Perspective: While being empathetic, a good astrologer maintains objectivity and doesn’t let personal biases interfere with the advice given.

Adaptability: Adapting to Different Perspectives: People seek astrological advice for various reasons, and a good astrologer should be able to adapt their approach to different clients and their unique situations.

Flexibility: Astrology is interpretive, and a good astrologer is open to different interpretations and doesn’t adhere rigidly to one school of thought.

Professionalism:

Timeliness: Being punctual and respecting clients’ time is a sign of professionalism.

Clear Boundaries: Maintaining professional boundaries is essential. A good astrologer focuses on the astrological consultation without crossing into areas that are outside the scope of their expertise.

Remember, individual preferences may vary, and what might be considered essential qualities in a best astrologer in South Africa can depend on personal beliefs and the specific needs of the person seeking astrological guidance.
